Gays and lesbians who are having problems with drug addiction have the choice of going to a drug rehabilitation facility that is specially designed for them. Deciding to go to one of these programs is a very good first step towards recovery. While in treatment recovering addicts not only deal with their issues with drugs and/or alcohol but also work on other emotional and personal problems they are struggling with. Gays and Lesbians in treatment take a closer look at how their destructive behavior was a result of inner feelings left unresolved. Counseling and/or therapy aids in resolving issues with shame, Isolation, discomfort in one's own skin, feelings of rejection, etc. Once rehabilitation is complete they will be able to feel more secure about who they are and be able to live happily without the desire to use drugs.
