Individuals who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the procedure of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may carry risks if not performed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can effectively oversee and present medical supervision for people who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services usually include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and making certain the person is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detoxification process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can present detoxification services, the individual will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any issues are resolved as rapidly and safely as possible.
