Drug rehabilitation is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to provide these clients the rehabilitation they need, there are some specific steps that need to be followed before they can enroll into a drug treatment program. First, they need to find out if they are eligible for drug treatment while involved in the Kennedy, New York criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who determines if they are in need of treatment and if so how much and what type is necessary. Furthermore, when they are screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health problems as well. Their drug addiction problem, mental health problems, criminal activity, sentence length and previous treatment history are all determining factors in the creation of the rehabilitation plan.
