Drug treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to provide these clients the treatment they need, there are a few steps that should be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol treatment center. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug treatment during their time in the Marathon, Ohio criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who determines if they are in need of rehabilitation and if so how much and what type is needed. Furthermore, when they are screened for drug addiction problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health problems as well. Severity of addiction, mental health problems, criminal activity, sentence length and previous substance abuse history are all determining variables in the creation of the rehabilitation plan.
