Men and women who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want assistance will first go through detoxification before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being removed from one's system, which is often uncomfortable and may hold risks if not conducted in a setting which can offer appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can adequately oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services often include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and making certain the individual is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as wanted to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some type of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can offer detox services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any problems are handled as swiftly and safely as possible.
