DUI/DWI Offenders - Portland

Drinking and driving, or driving while under the influence are serious offenses not to be taken lightly. Although each state has its own way of dealing with DUI/DWI offenders, there are some generalities that can be expected. Depending on the level of the driver's intoxication and how strict the state laws are, they may have to serve time in jail for their offense. Once this is completed they will probably have additional retribution to do in order to drive a vehicle again. Many states require the person to go through counseling and/or therapy to help in their recovery process. Often these counseling sessions are held in a group setting by either an addiction recovery professional or a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. The state will determine a set number of counseling hours that the DUI/DWI offender will need to attend.
