Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being removed from one's system, which is often uncomfortable and may carry risks if not performed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can correctly oversee and supply medical supervision for people who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services often include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and making certain the person is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detoxification process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any problems are fixed as quickly and safely as possible.
