Facts

  • Marijuana users entering substance abuse treatment in the U.S. are most likely initiated into their use of marijuana at a very young age, with over 50% having done so by the age of 14 and almost 90% before the age of 18.
  • It has been proven that drug rehab reduces costs associated with health and social costs of addiction, by far more than the cost of the treatment itself.
  • When the level of Xanax in the body falls below a certain level individuals will experience uncomfortable symptoms and will take another dose of the medication to feel "better".
  • Persistent withdrawal signs have been observed in chronic drug users, even after acute withdrawal symptoms have passed. These symptoms can occur for many months.

Volcano - Medicare

Substance abuse and addiction affects every race, age and gender. For substance abusers that are 65 years or older, Medicare is an option to pay for some if not all of their drug treatment. Medicare insurance may cover the treatment of drug addiction or alcoholism in both outpatient and inpatient settings, as long as certain requirements are met. The addict must obtain treatment from a Medicare-participating facility or provider. The patient's doctor recommends that the drug or alcohol treatment is medically necessary and that the patient's doctor provides a specific recommended treatment plan. Additionally, Medicare will only cover a maximum of 190 days in a psychiatric hospital for the individual's entire lifetime.
