Men and women who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want assistance will initially go through detoxification before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is basically the procedure of the drug being eliminated from one's system, which is often uncomfortable and may hold risks if not conducted in a setting which can offer appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehab facility which can properly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services typically include insuring the individual is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as wanted to make the detoxification process as smooth and safe as possible. The individual in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some type of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug treatment facility which can offer detoxification services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any issues are fixed as swiftly and safely as possible.
