Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will initially go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is often uncomfortable and may hold risks if not performed in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can properly oversee and provide medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services typically include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can supply detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any problems are handled as quickly and safely as possible.
