Gays and Lesbians - Atwood

Gays and lesbians who develop problems with drugs and alcohol have the option of attending a drug rehabilitation facility that is specifically designed for gays or lesbians. Deciding to attend one of these programs is an excellent first step towards recovery. While in treatment recovering addicts not only address their problems with drugs and/or alcohol but also address other emotional and personal problems they are having difficulties with. Gays and Lesbians in treatment examine how their destructive behavior was a result of inner feelings left unresolved. Counseling and/or therapy aids in resolving issues with isolation, shame, discomfort in one's own skin, feelings of rejection, etc. Once rehabilitation is complete they will be able to feel more secure about who they are and be able to live happily without the desire to use drugs.
