Drug treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients court sentence. In order to get these clients the rehabilitation they need, there are a few specific steps that should be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol treatment center. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug treatment while involved in the Avoca, Iowa criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who decides if they are in need of rehabilitation and if so how much and what type is needed. Additionally, when the client is screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health problems as well. Their drug addiction problem, mental health problems, criminal activity, sentence length and previous substance abuse history are all determining factors in the creation of a criminal justice treatment plan.
