Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is generally uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as necessary. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can appropriately oversee and provide medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services typically include insuring the person is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some form of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can supply detox services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any problems are fixed as quickly and safely as possible.
