People who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the procedure of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may hold risks if not conducted in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can adequately oversee and provide medical supervision for persons who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services usually include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the person is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as required to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The individual in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can present detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any complications are resolved as swiftly and safely as possible.
