Gays and lesbians who are having problems with drugs and alcohol have the choice of going to a drug rehabilitation center that is specially intended for them. Choosing to attend one of these programs is an excellent first step towards recovery. During rehabilitation recovering addicts not only address their issues with drugs and/or alcohol but also work on other emotional and personal issues they are struggling with. Gays and Lesbians in treatment take a closer look at how their destructive behavior was a result of inner feelings left unresolved. Counseling and/or therapy aids in resolving issues with shame, Isolation, discomfort in one's own skin, feelings of rejection, etc. Once treatment is complete they will be able to feel more secure about who they are and know that drugs and alcohol is not the solution.
