People who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detoxification before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is typically uncomfortable and may carry risks if not executed in a setting which can offer appropriate support and medical intervention as necessary. Detoxification services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detoxification facility or a drug treatment facility which can adequately oversee and provide medical supervision for people who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services often include insuring the individual is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and making certain the person is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some kind of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detox services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any issues are resolved as quickly and safely as possible.
