Detoxification - Dimock

People who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will initially go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being removed from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may hold risks if not performed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can appropriately oversee and provide medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services usually include insuring the individual is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and making certain the person is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detoxification process as easy and safe as possible. The individual in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some form of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any complications are handled as quickly and safely as possible.
