Facts

  • Negative side effects associated with PCP use can persist up to one year after stopping use of the drug.
  • The intensity and duration of opiate withdrawal varies greatly depending on the dose and speed of withdrawal. Short-acting opiates, such as heroin, tend to produce more intense but briefer symptoms.
  • Slang terms for PCP are angel dust, ozone, wack and rocket fuel.
  • The high prevalence of alcohol consumption in nursing homes indicates a trend toward using nursing homes for short-term alcoholism rehabilitation stays.

Medicare - Doylestown

Drug addiction affects every age, race and gender. For drug addicted people 65 years or older, Medicare is an option to pay for some if not all of their drug rehabilitation. Medicare insurance may cover the treatment of alcoholism and drug abuse in both outpatient and inpatient settings, as long as a few key points are addressed. The addict must receive treatment from a Medicare-participating facility or provider. The drug addicted person's doctor states that the services requested are medically necessary and that the patient's doctor provides a specific recommended treatment plan. Additionally, Medicare will only cover a total of 190 days in a mental health hospital for the individual's entire lifetime.
