People who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may hold risks if not performed in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can properly oversee and present medical supervision for persons who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services generally include insuring the person is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and making certain the person is receiving proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as required to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some kind of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detox services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any problems are resolved as quickly and safely as possible.
