Fenton - Detoxification

Individuals who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detoxification before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the procedure of the drug being removed from one's system, which is typically uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detox services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can effectively oversee and provide medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services usually include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, offering proper nutrition and ensuring the person is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detoxification process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can present detoxification services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any problems are fixed as quickly and safely as possible.
