Men and women who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will 1st go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the procedure of the drug being eliminated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can offer appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detoxification facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can correctly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services generally include insuring the individual is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The individual in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug treatment facility which can present detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to ensure that any difficulties are fixed as quickly and safely as possible.
