Men and women who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will initially go through detoxification before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is generally uncomfortable and may hold risks if not executed in a setting which can offer appropriate support and medical intervention as necessary. Detoxification services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detoxification facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can properly oversee and provide medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services typically include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The individual in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some type of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any complications are handled as quickly and safely as possible.
