People who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detoxification before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is generally uncomfortable and may carry risks if not executed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detox services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can correctly oversee and provide medical supervision for persons who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services typically include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, delivering proper nutrition and ensuring the person is receiving proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as wanted to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can offer detox services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to ensure that any problems are fixed as quickly and safely as possible.
