Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the procedure of the drug being eliminated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can effectively oversee and supply medical supervision for people who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services often include insuring the person is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detoxification process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can offer detox services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any problems are resolved as rapidly and safely as possible.
