Facts

  • PCP users are commonly brought to emergency rooms because of overdose or because of the drug's severe psychological effects.
  • Due to depression and dysphoria that can be caused by stimulant withdrawal, psychological and/or medical management is critical.
  • Individuals with moderate-to-severe symptoms of alcohol withdrawal will likely need inpatient treatment at a drug treatment facility where they can be watched closely for hallucinations and other signs of delirium tremens.
  • It is unlikely that individuals who wish to stop using Methadone will be able to quit on their own or complete a methadone withdrawal on their own or at a methadone clinic, and many individuals give up on ever being able to withdraw from the drug.

Livingston - Hospital Inpatient

A person who is heavily addicted to drugs or alcohol will benefit greatly by attending a hospital inpatient program. These types of programs are geared towards physical health, mental health and medical stabilization. Recovering persons will have access to medication as well as medical staff around the clock. While not every drug addict needs this level of care, it is helpful to those who have serious physical addiction problems to drugs or alcohol. Hospital inpatient programs commonly last several days to even up to a month. Once the inpatient portion of their recovery is finished they may choose to participate at a sober living program or transfer into an outpatient program.
