Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is typically uncomfortable and may hold risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehab facility which can appropriately oversee and provide medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services often include insuring the individual is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the person is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as required to make the detoxification process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some type of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug treatment facility which can provide detox services, the person will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any complications are resolved as rapidly and safely as possible.
