Individuals who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want assistance will initially go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the procedure of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may carry risks if not executed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as necessary. Detoxification services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug treatment facility which can correctly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services generally include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, offering proper nutrition and making certain the person is receiving proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as needed to make the detoxification process as easy and safe as possible. The individual in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can present detoxification services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any complications are resolved as rapidly and safely as possible.
