Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detox before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is simply the process of the drug being eliminated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may hold risks if not performed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as necessary. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can correctly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services generally include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the person is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as needed to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some kind of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can supply detox services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to ensure that any issues are resolved as swiftly and safely as possible.
