Facts

  • The long-term neuro-toxic effects, which can ultimately result from inhalant abuse, can include damage to the brain that is involved in controlling cognition, movement and vision.
  • The abuse of prescription drugs such as OxyContin is responsible for a great deal of health care fraud, such as corrupt physicians writing prescriptions for OxyContin for nonexistent injuries. The patient in this circumstance will often use a portion of the prescribed pills and then sell the rest for a substantial profit.
  • There is no physical withdrawal from Crack or Cocaine as there is with other drugs such as heroin. The withdrawal symptoms are more of a psychological nature rather than physical including an intense hunger, irritability, fatigue, long but disturbed sleep
  • Inhalants are rapidly absorbed through the lung tissue and go into the bloodstream where they are rapidly distributed to the brain and other major organs throughout the body.

Moon - DUI/DWI Offenders

Drinking and driving, or driving while under the influence are severe offenses not to be taken lightly. While each state has its own way of handling DUI/DWI offenders, there are some generalities that can be expected. Depending on the level of the driver's intoxication and how stringent the state laws are, they may have to serve time in jail for their offense. Once this is accomplished they will probably have further retribution to do in order to drive a vehicle again. Many states require the person to go through counseling and/or therapy to aid in their recovery process. Typically these counseling sessions are held in a group setting by either an addiction recovery professional or a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. The state will require a set number of therapy hours that the DUI/DWI offender will need to attend.
