Gays and lesbians who are having problems with drug addiction have the choice of going to a drug rehab facility that is specially designed for them. Choosing to attend one of these programs is a great first step towards recovery. While in treatment recovering addicts not only address their issues with drugs and/or alcohol but also address other emotional and personal problems they are having difficulties with. Gays and Lesbians in treatment take a closer look at how their destructive behavior was a result of inner feelings left unresolved. Counseling and/or therapy helps in resolving issues with shame, Isolation, feelings of rejection, discomfort in one's own skin, etc. Once rehabilitation is complete they will be able to feel stronger about who they are and be able to live happily without the desire to use drugs.
