People who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will first go through detoxification before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is simply the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is usually uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are offered at either a professional drug or alcohol detoxification facility or a drug treatment facility which can appropriately oversee and present medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services often include insuring the client is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some form of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to make sure that any difficulties are handled as swiftly and safely as possible.
