Drug treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to provide these clients the treatment they need, there are a few steps that should be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug treatment during their time in the Olin, Iowa criminal justice system. Their case is reviewed by a panel who determines if they are in need of drug treatment services and if so how much and what type is needed. Furthermore, when the client is screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also screened for mental health problems as well. Severity of addiction, mental health problems, criminal activity, sentence length and previous treatment history are all determining factors in the creation of the rehabilitation plan.
