Gays and Lesbians - Ophiem

Gays and lesbians who develop problems with drugs and alcohol have the choice of attending a drug treatment program that is specifically designed for gays or lesbians. Choosing to go to one of these programs is a great first step towards recovery. During rehabilitation recovering addicts not only address their problems with drugs and/or alcohol but also handle other emotional and personal problems they are having difficulties with. Gays and Lesbians in treatment take a closer look at how their destructive behavior was a result of inner feelings left unresolved. Counseling and/or therapy aids in resolving issues with isolation, shame, discomfort in one's own skin, feelings of rejection, etc. Once rehabilitation is complete they will be able to feel stronger about who they are and know that drugs and alcohol is not the solution.
