Facts

  • Barbiturates are prescribed as anticonvulsants, sedatives, and general anesthetics but can also induce euphoria, elation, and uninhibited behavior which make them candidates for abuse. If individuals suddenly cease using the barbiturates, symptoms of withdrawal syndrome appear 12-20 hours after the last dose.
  • The acetaminophen component in Lortab can on its own cause a fatal overdose. High doses of acetaminophen can cause liver damage, and dosages should never exceed 4000 mg a day. Acetaminophen is metabolized solely by the liver, so there is a risk of fatal overdose due to hepatotoxicity when Lortab is mixed with alcohol.
  • Some Ecstasy users may become dehydrated through vigorous activity in a hot environment.
  • Premenstrual hormonal changes affect the action of alcohol on a woman's body and can cause intoxication to set at a faster rate just prior to menstruation.

DUI/DWI Offenders - Pleasant Unity, PA.

Drinking and driving, or driving while under the influence are severe offenses not to be taken lightly. While each state has its own way of handling DUI/DWI offenders, there are some generalities that can be expected. Depending on the level of the driver's intoxication and how stringent the state laws are, they may have to serve time in jail for their offense. Once this is completed they will probably have further retribution to do in order to drive a vehicle again. Many states require the person to undergo counseling and/or therapy to help in their recovery process. Often these counseling sessions are held in a group setting by either an addiction recovery professional or a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. The state will define a set number of therapy hours that the DUI/DWI offender will need to attend.
