Drug treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to get these individuals the rehabilitation they need, there are some specific steps that should be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. First, they need to find out if they are eligible for drug rehabilitation during their time in the Portland, New York criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who determines if they are in need of rehabilitation and if so how much and what type is necessary. Additionally, when the client is evaluated for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health issues as well.
