Men and women who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will initially go through detox before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the process of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is generally uncomfortable and may hold risks if not carried out in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detoxification facility or a drug treatment facility which can correctly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services generally include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, supplying proper nutrition and making certain the person is getting proper rest, and providing supplements and medicine as required to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some form of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can offer detox services, the client will have detoxification staff at their disposal around the clock to ensure that any issues are fixed as swiftly and safely as possible.
