People who are physically dependent to drugs or alcohol and want help will 1st go through detox before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is simply the process of the drug being removed from one's system, which is typically uncomfortable and may carry risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detoxification services are supplied at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can properly oversee and present medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services generally include insuring the individual is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detox process as easy and safe as possible. The person in detox will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detoxification facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to ensure that any issues are resolved as quickly and safely as possible.
