Facts

  • Withdrawal symptoms can vary significantly among individuals, but some symptoms such as depression, anxiety and craving are very common under most circumstances.
  • Methadone users are often unable to quit on their own or complete a methadone withdrawal on their own or at a methadone clinic and many individuals give up on ever being able to withdraw from the drug.
  • While treating opiate withdrawal through rapid opiate detoxification, the individual is anesthetized throughout the three to four hour procedure, and withdrawal occurs while the patient sleeps.
  • Seizures that occur as a result of benzodiazepine withdrawal typically last 30 seconds but can last up to a couple of minutes.

Outpatient - The Village

Going to an outpatient treatment center means that the person in recovery has already completed some form of detox or withdrawal. They should have no drugs or alcohol in their system during their program. This makes learning about a life of sobriety and how to maintain lasting abstinence from drug or alcohol use the primary focus of outpatient care. Typically, clients attend outpatient treatment after completing both detox and inpatient care at a different facility. They are looking to continue their sobriety by continued education and surrounding themselves with others who are sharing their same struggles. While this type of treatment is less concentrated than inpatient care it is still a valuable tool in achieving and sustaining sobriety.
