Detoxification - Townsend

Individuals who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want help will initially go through detoxification before receiving other treatment services in drug rehab. Detoxification is basically the procedure of the drug being removed from one's system, which is often uncomfortable and may hold risks if not conducted in a setting which can supply appropriate support and medical intervention as needed. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehab facility which can properly oversee and present medical supervision for men and women who are just coming off of drugs. Detoxification services generally include insuring the client is as comfortable as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, delivering proper nutrition and ensuring the person is getting proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as necessary to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some variety of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehabilitation facility which can supply detox services, the client will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to make certain that any issues are handled as quickly and safely as possible.
