Drug treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to get these clients the rehabilitation they need, there are some steps that need to be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol rehab program. First, they need to find out if they are eligible for drug rehabilitation during their time in the Vandalia, Illinois criminal justice system. Their case is reviewed by a panel who makes the decision if they are in need of treatment and if so how much and what type is needed. Furthermore, when the client is screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health issues as well. Their drug addiction problem, mental health problems, criminal activity, sentence length and previous treatment history are all determining variables in the creation of the treatment plan.
