Drug or alcohol treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients court sentence. In order to provide these clients the treatment they need, there are some specific steps that need to be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol treatment program. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug rehab during their time in the Westphalia, Iowa criminal justice system. Their case is reviewed by a panel who makes the decision if they are in need of rehabilitation and if so how much and what type is needed. Furthermore, when the client is screened for drug addiction problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health issues as well. Severity of addiction, mental health concerns, criminal activity, sentence length and previous treatment history are all determining factors in the creation of a criminal justice treatment plan.
