People who are physically reliant to drugs or alcohol and want assistance will initially go through detox before getting other treatment services in drug rehab. Detox is simply the procedure of the drug being eradicated from one's system, which is typically uncomfortable and may hold risks if not performed in a setting which can provide appropriate support and medical intervention as required. Detox services are provided at either a professional drug or alcohol detox facility or a drug rehabilitation facility which can adequately oversee and supply medical supervision for individuals who are just coming off of drugs. Detox services typically include insuring the person is as relaxed as possible while detoxing and going through drug or alcohol withdrawal, providing proper nutrition and ensuring the individual is receiving proper rest, and supplying supplements and medicine as needed to make the detox process as smooth and safe as possible. The person in detoxification will sometimes be encouraged to take part in some sort of physical activity such as walking, yoga, etc. At a drug detox facility or drug rehab facility which can provide detoxification services, the individual will have detox staff at their disposal around the clock to assure that any issues are fixed as rapidly and safely as possible.
