Rophynol is a dangerous drug that is banned in the United States of America. In the United Kingdom it is a Class C drug that can be bought and handled only with a prescription. It is however commonly used in Mexico, Europe and Asia as an effective treatment for chronic insomnia and severe psychiatric disorders.

What is Rophynol?

Rophynol is chemically known as Flunitrazepam. Rophynol belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepine drugs. Benzodiazepines are psychoactive drugs that have strong sedative and muscle relaxant effects. Valium is the most popular drug amongst the benzodiazepines. Flunitrazepam is manufactured by the labs of Hoffman-La Roche under the registered trade name of Rophynol. Rophynol is extremely cheap compared to other drugs and hence popular as a 'club drug' often taken at pubs and clubs by the young along with alcohol. On the street Rophynol is popularly known as Rope, R2, Roofies, Roche, Forget me pill and Mexican Valium.

The sedative effect combined with its muscle relaxant properties allow the attackers to get away with their crime before the victim can react or call out for help.

What does Rophynol look like?

Rophynol is available in the market as a pill. Earlier it used to be a white pill, which was colorless, odorless and tasteless. The pill can be easily crushed and added to food or drinks without the victim being aware of the drugs presence. The widespread rumored use of Rophynol to sedate unsuspecting victims has lead to the addition of a blue dye to the pill which will color the food or drink when the drug is added to it, making it possible for people to detect the drugs presence.

Rophynol is usually imbibed directly in it's pill form. It is also crushed to a powder and snorted or sprinkled over food or dissolved in drinks.

What are the effects of Rophynol?

Rophynol is an extremely potent drug. A dose of as little as 2 mg can have noticeable and debilitative effect on your mind and body. Rophynol acts on the neurotransmitter GABA receptors in the brain to produce it's psychoactive effects. Rophynol affects sedation, drowsiness, impaired judgement and motor co-ordination, restlessness, disorientation, slurred speech, anxiety and loss of consciousness.

The effects of Rophynol are exacerbated when taken along with alcohol and other drugs. All the effects of Rophynol can be aggravated when taken with alcohol, along with a difficulty to breathe, very low blood pressure, coma and even death.

Rophynol like other benzodiazepines is an addictive psychoactive drug. Repeated and frequent use of the drug can lead to tolerance, increasing the dosage required to affect the drug abusers desired effects on their body and mind. Increased tolerance and dependence lead to strong addiction to Rophynol.Withdrawal effects from Rophynol can be extremely painful and intense. Withdrawal effects include, but are not limited to headache, stomach pains, anxiety, food cravings, hallucinations, convulsions, muscle pain, unaccountable fear and suicidal thoughts.
